Our Current Approach to Healthcare is Broken
The story of why our health and wellbeing is all over the place.

In large part, due to the failures of traditional approaches to healthcare, today we can opt to make holistic treatment choices for our overall betterment.
The idea of medicine is straightforward. When you fall sick, you go to a doctor who diagnoses your illness and ascribes some sort of treatment so that you can be restored to your normal self. In most cases, the treatment ascribed should be temporary. You take a course of antibiotics for the duration of our illness and once you are healed, that’s that.
And yet today, this isn’t the reality. You probably know someone in your life who has been in and out of hospital, and given drug prescriptions that should make them feel better, only for that not to be the case. Or maybe, as can often be the case with anti-anxiety and antidepressants, the drug helped them in the short-term but it hasn’t addressed their actual illness. In the case of mental health drug medication, many patients are even encouraged to take up a higher strength of their drug prescription once they find that the effects aren’t as potent.
You don’t have to be a doctor, pharmacist or medical professional to understand why this is problematic. Why is it that people who take medicine –substances that are designed to be taken for a set period of time to “heal” us – are not recovering?
The answer is simple: today’s drug companies are involved in every single part of the healthcare system, and they make a lot of money keeping people unwell. The UK Pharmaceutical industry is worth approximately £21 Billion. Medicine is big money. Why would an industry which makes billions of £££ a year of people being sick want everyone healthy? For drug companies, it makes much more sense to hook patients onto profitable drugs for as long as possible.
Conventional medicine has outgrown its usefulness
Modern, western healthcare is still based on the idea of allopathy – an approach to medicine that is defined by patching patients up as quickly as possible so that they can get back out and work again as quickly as possible.
It views the mind and body as separate entities – a concept that was first argued by French philosopher René Descartes. Mind-body dualism argues that mental phenomena are non-physical, and that the mind and body are distinct and separable. This is the philosophical foundation that Western medicine is built on. The problem with this is that it assumes a set of ideas about the relationship between the mind and the body.
In the case of medicine, not only is this approach extremely problematic, we believe it’s outright wrong.
Holism - A modern and alternative approach to health and wellbeing
In large part, due to the failures of traditional approaches to healthcare, today we can opt to make holistic treatment choices for our overall betterment. Holistic healthcare is rooted in Ancient & Eastern philosophies that are rooted in considering the entire person – mental, physical, emotional & spiritual. It emphasises the connection between these four areas of any person. Illness is seen as the result of imbalances across any of these areas, and so a holistic approach seeks to heal these differences.

How CBD can help your overall health
Not only does CBD provide an all-natural alternative to synthetically manufactured drugs, it also works directly with the body’s naturally occurring ECS. Where most pharmaceuticals create harmful toxins that need to be cleansed by the liver, our CBD oils work synergistically with our natural body to help create homeostasis, and restore our natural balance.
Taking a daily dose of CBD along with regular exercise, plenty of water, a varied diet that includes vegetables, low sugar, and being mindful about the things which cause you stress, anxiety, or to become imbalanced in any way is the best way for promoting longevity and ensuring your health remains optimal.
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, conventional approaches to medicine are struggling to meet the demands of modern living. The notion that the mind and body should be treated separately is proving increasingly inaccurate. In an age that illness continues to rise – take mental health issues for example 13% in the last decade – all the signs are clear that it’s time to rethink how we approach medicine, health and wellbeing.
