What is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol (can·na·bid·i·ol), a compound found in hemp. CBD works by stimulating the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which exists throughout the body. CBD is one of over 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants and accounts for up to 40% of the plants extract. CBD is completely legal and non-intoxicating (meaning it wont get you ‘high’).
While the full complexity of how CBD interacts with the body’s ECS is yet to be revealed, it is a key compound in restoring and regulating the body’s natural balance.
Can you overdose on CBD?
A 2011 Study analysed outcomes of taking various CBD doses. It found even the highest doses, 1500mg per day were repeatedly well tolerated by humans and showed no signs of toxicity.
When using CBD, provided you start small and increase your dosage over time until you find your therapeutic window, you should have no concerns about overdosing on CBD.
The ECS is a complex cell-signalling system identified in 1992 by Dr Raphael Mechoulam, who was a professor of medicinal chemistry and natural products at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. They discovered that the ECS plays a fundamental role in regulating every physiological system in our body, and the functions and processes of all these systems. The ECS system is found all over the body; in the brain, organs, glands, connective tissue & immune cells. It is primarily involved in regulating all our physiological systems & processes including appetite, pain sensation, mood & memory. The primary role of this system reolves around maintaining balance in the body – or homeostasis.
Whilst we are still discovering the full extent of how the ECS system works in our bodies, we can break down the role of the ECS down to two primary functions:
- To modulate pleasure, energy & well-being
- To slowly nudge the body back to health in the face of injury & disease
It is entirely legal to purchase CBD Oil in the UK provided it complies with the Novel Food Act.
‘Novel Food’ refers to any food without a history of widely documented consumption before May 1997. These can still be things we are familiar with, for example a food consumed elsewhere in the world like chia seeds or certain probiotic bacteria.
Yes. Our CBD supplier was one of the first to submit their novel foods application to the FSA confirming Treed is a customer and covering our entire CBD supplement product range. Our application number is RP229
MCT stands for medium-chain triglycerides. These are types of fat most often derived from coconut oil. Medium-Chain Triglycerides are a type of oil molecule found in naturally-occurring fats. Compared to most fats & oils, MCT is smaller and absorbed faster with less digestion. MCT Oil appears to help with both weight loss & reducing lactic acid build-up in muscles. Our MCT Oil is responsibly sourced from coconuts.
When you take CBD oil, some can be lost in the digestive process. In the liver, the CBD is broken down into hundreds of metabolites. Many are not used by the body and expelled. This process decreases the amount of CBD, reducing its bioavailability. This is where MCT Oil becomes useful. It carries the CBD past the first pass metabolism process into the bloodstream, meaning your body absorbs more CBD. This increases its bio-availability and ensures you get the best possible effect.
All of our Lab Reports are conducted by an independent 3rd Party Laboratory . As a consumer you should know exactly what you’re putting into your body and we strongly advise reading and understanding a Lab Report before trying any CBD product.
Our reports can be found below
A World Health Organization report issued in 2017 concluded that CBD does not appear to have abuse potential or cause harm. The vast majority of CBD oil users don’t experience any negative effects.
In doses used as a food supplement, CBD poses few risks, and side effects are uncommon but can include a dry mouth or drowsiness.
If you have a health condition or are taking any prescribed or over-the-counter medicines, always check with your doctor or a pharmacist for possible drug supplement interactions before taking CBD. This is because CBD interacts with enzymes involved in metabolising some medicines and may result in increased drug levels that could cause side effects.
We are firm believers that if you wouldn’t consume it yourself, why would you let your pet have it. Our Treed CBD 500mg is suitable for pets & humans alike. If you want to begin giving your pet CBD, make sure you understand why you are giving it to them and what effects you want it to have.
For dosage we advise giving 0.5mg per KG of body weight per day. Our 500mg oil is 2.5mg per drop, so if your pet weighs 20kg this would be 4 drops per day. Just like you, your pet has a therapeutic window which you need to find, so start with small doses of 1 or 2 drops and build up to their recommended dose. It is best given under the tongue, but if your pet does not like this process, count the drops on a treat.
If you’re unsure about dosing for your pet or you have any questions about CBD for pets please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
What is CBD oil & will it get me high?
CBD is sourced from the hemp plant. As it’s oil-soluble, it is often mixed with hemp, coconut or MCT oil to enhance its absorption. This CBD plus oil mixture is known as CBD oil. CBD is extracted from non-marijuana strains of the cannabis plant. The marijuana plant and the hemp plant are both from the ‘cannabis’ family, but the latter does not contain sufficient amounts of an ingredient known as THC. Treed uses Broad Spectrum CBD which contains zero THC.
THC is the ingredient in cannabis that has ‘psychoactive’ effects and it’s particularly prevalent in the marijuana cannabis plant. Hemp cannabis, on the other hand, does not contain enough THC to cause these ‘psychoactive’ effects. Hemp is industrially produced, specifically to allow us to benefit from CBD without the effects of THC. Just to be clear… ‘psychoactive’ effects are what many would describe as a drug ‘high’. As Treed CBD does not contain any THC, it cannot cause this effect.
The simple answer is no. CBD is not addictive. The substance in the plant that has addictive properties is THC (the compound that gets you high). Treed CBD does not contain any THC.
On the other hand, it has even been suggested that CBD has been shown to help overcoming some addictions. A 2013 study looked at the effectiveness of CBD as a way to reduce tobacco consumption. Observing 24 smokers over a weeklong period, those treated with CBD reduced the number of cigarettes smoked, while those with the placebo showed no change.
After filling the dropper with the desired amount of oil, place the serving under your tongue. Hold for one minute before swallowing. For maximum effectiveness, use your tongue to gently apply the oil to your inner cheeks.
If this is your first time using CBD oil, stand in front of a mirror and count 4 drops to ensure you get the right dose.
While swallowing the oil poses no threat and will still be effective, taking the oil sublingually (under your tongue), allows for maximum and rapid absorption into your bloodstream. When you swallow it immediately, cannabinoids still reach the bloodstream after digestion, but it’s absorbed much more slowly and some of its effectiveness may be lost through the gastric walls in the stomach.
That’s why we recommend holding the drops under your tongue for at least 30 seconds to ensure you get maximum effectiveness
Isolate CBD is a pure form of CBD stripped of any other ingredients & crystallised in texture. Full-Spectrum CBD contains a wide variety of beneficial phytocannabinoids, terpenes & enzymes found in the hemp plant. When you combine the 114+ cannabinoids present in hemp, they amplify each other’s chemistry, a phenomenon called the entourage effect. Broad Spectrum CBD contains everything that CBD has minus the THC.
To understand the concept, think of it in terms of human interactions. We all have gifts and abilities that can carry us to a certain point in life. Sometimes, we’ll meet another person who has different gifts and abilities. When partnerships are formed between two people, and abilities are combined, achievements can be made that were otherwise unimaginable.
Essentially, the different components within the plant interact to produce a stronger influence than any one of the compounds alone, meaning the product is more effective at treating unwanted symptoms
Whilst we’re building a better understanding about CBD each and every day, we’re still refining our grasp of how CBD interacts with the body and why the benefits for some are seemingly near miraculous, and others feel it does not work. This could be down to the product you’ve been consuming is from a less than reputable brand, or you’re taking the wrong dosage, or perhaps the wrong product.
Using CBD is an extremely personal & individual experience. It is about finding your therapeutic window & consequently, each CBD experience is individual and unique to each person.
We understand this and it’s why we offer our wellness guarantee. You can try our CBD and if after 30 days it hasn’t made any difference to you, simply return your bottle for a full refund. We want you to be happy.
If you want to know how CBD can benefit you personally, please email email@example.com and let us know what you believe is wrong & how you think CBD can benefit you.
We’re more than happy to discuss how CBD may be able to help you reach your goals and have a better quality of life
How long does CBD take to work?
Most people can begin to feel some effects of their CBD dosage after 30-45 minutes, for others it can take weeks. It depends on why you’re taking CBD and what dosage you’re taking.
If you’re taking it for a specific goal, we advise trying CBD for at least 30 days to understand how it effects & benefits your body. Some people do notice it immediately, whereas some people take a month to feel any benefit. Lots of people notice better sleep on their first or second night after trying CBD, but the effects will be individual and unique for you.
Take your time and understand how CBD is interacting and benefitting your body & mind. With our wellness guarantee you know you can return any Treed product for a full refund if you are unhappy.

We have partnered with Trees For The Future, a non-profit organization that plants trees across sub-Saharan Africa. They improve the lives of impoverished farmers by rejuvenating lands by planting specific types of fast-growing trees. Over a 4 year period, this can change the lives of their families forever. The idea is not only to better your own life, but to make a small difference in bettering the lives of others. So far we have planted over 5,073 trees!

Most poor quality hemp oil is imported from China or Eastern Europe, but we partner with US farmers to source our hemp. When hemp plants grow, more so than most crops, they absorb everything contained in the soil. That means if the plant is grown in soil containing any harmful chemicals – like pesticides or lead, which are frequently found in unregulated soil – the plant will absorb these toxic chemicals, and they’ll show up in the oil extract you’re ingesting, too.
All our hemp is grown under the highest GAP standards and is processed under audited GMP Standards in order to meet the top quality expected by our customers.
Our state-of-the-art technology isolates, filters & removes any unwanted compounds while preserving the maximum potency of phytocannabinoids. This ensures the finest full-spectrum oil that is completely free of heavy metals, pesticides, and residual solvents.
We will go above and beyond to ensure your experience with us is fantastic from your first question to your thousandth purchase.
Your wellness is our focus.
Just two natural ingredients:
Full Spectrum Hemp Extract
Our CBD oil is entirely sourced from organic US hemp, using the supercritical CO2 extraction method. We use this method because the precise nature of CO2 extraction makes it suitable for producing specific concentrations of CBD oil. These oils are grown in the US, and processed in the UK. We are able to supply them with MCT coconut oil.
Our Wellness Guarantee is available to every first-time buyer.
If you are unsatisfied with our product, you can send it back and request a full refund. We encourage you to try our products for a full 30 days to allow for your body to adapt, but we will accept the return at any time.
The Wellness Guarantee is limited to first-time customers only; one product per customer.
